How Pin Ups Are Made

This blog really needs some more pin ups! I love pin up art and don't understand why there's such a lack of it in my little bloggywogg. So, here we go! Painted pin ups are always so stylized. No woman really has a body like that - except for Elegy Ellem...With their loooooooong legs, tiny waists, big boobs, and full lips they are the women men dream about having, and women dream about looking like - at least if you're into the old fashioned look...While looking at the perfect finished result of these paintings, I love taking a peek behind the scenes, to see what the artist had in front of his eyes while drawing the pin up. I found some really nice "before" and "after" pictures at "La Boite Verte", from where all the following pictures, by pin up artist Gil Elvgren, come. Enjoy!

  1. I love it. Don't you find that the real pin-ups look slightly more forced though? That's why I love the Elvgrens - everyone's having a genuinely delightful time! x

  7. These photos are great!! My husband is a tattoo artist, hence all the tattoos, so he draws and paints a lot. I want to see if I can get him to do paint a pinup photoshoot of me like this!! So inspiring!!

  8. Cool! If I had a tattooing husband I would probably be covered in his art! I've actually been thinking about getting a pin up tattoo! A vampire pin up!!! :)
